Colombian President Gustavo Petro announced on Saturday that he will visit Caracas on Friday, April 24, for a meeting with Venezuela’s acting president, Delcy Rodríguez. The announcement was made in Barcelona, Spain, during his participation in the IV Summit in Defense of Democracy.
The meeting will be the first bilateral engagement between Petro and Rodríguez since she assumed the role of acting president of Venezuela on January 5, following what the provided information describes as the kidnapping of President Nicolás Maduro by U.S. forces after a military aggression on January 3.
Petro last traveled to Caracas in April 2024, when he met with President Maduro to review the state of bilateral cooperation between Colombia and Venezuela.
